Eco resorts are essentially a holiday resort that is concerned about wildlife and environmental conservation. Eco resorts may donate money to towards preserving the local environment or culture, operate in a sustainable way and educate guests on the local environment.

Eco tourism is a unique form of tourism involving natural and relatively undeveloped environments. Eco resorts aim to be low impact and small scale compared to your standard resort. Most eco resorts have similar goals: to educate tourists, donate or assist in conservation and to empower and benefit the community’s development while respecting culture and rights. An eco-tourism resort can be described as an insightful and educational travel experience.

Eco tourism has been recognised by environmentalists as an important part of sustaining our environment since the 1980’s. These resorts aim to offer tourists and insight into our effect on the environment.

Some important aspects of eco- tourism are water conservation, recycling and energy efficiency.
